After the peer reviews I got some very good feed back. A few of the problems that I had are simple and easy to fix. Luckily, my paper was sparred of any rude or inappropriate comments. The things I now need to work on include, more clearly defining my thesis, and my citations were off. Also my transitions were pretty bad.

Changes

Scratch that previous blog, and part of my presentation. My paper doesn't focus on one group, but it describes them all in brief detail. After that I bring in the counter argument. Next I plan on bringing in my argument and adding in real life situations to prove my point. It should work

Finishing it up

The paper is going pretty well, I have found another two books to use. One titled US Army Special Warfare has proven to be very helpful. It shows an interesting view into the Army Rangers, to go with this is a website I found that has a real life story about an Army Ranger Platoon leader in Iraq. It will be very helpful. Time to finish this paper up for Tuesday.

Presentation

Today was a day filled with library work. After my conference I found new direction in this paper. Today I followed my new direction and actually found some new books that may help my project. My presentation (due Thursday)will be more about my researching and finding information than the topic itself. Now I will cover information on my topic, but not nearly as much as in my final paper.

Conference

My conference was yesterday, and it was probably the single most helpful thing for this paper. I am now changing my approach to this paper, below are a few things I am changing.
-Less equipment
-More historical references
-Focusing only on Army Rangers
-Facts about what the Rangers have prevented
-Explain all the other branches of the Special Forces.

The conference was incredible helpful. Time for the library

Tuesday

Yesterday I went to the library for research purposes. The rough draft is due Thursday, but I figure it would be best to have most of my research done even if I don't use it all in my rough draft.
During my research I found a lot of information about previous operations. I'm still have a little trouble find information about tactics. Today while I'm there I am going to narrow my search into something about squad tactics as compared to my previous searches that focused on the special forces. Hopefully this information will be usable and helpful to my paper.

Wish me luck

Monday

Today is Monday, I hate Mondays. This Monday will be especially hard because our research paper is due Thursday. This means that I have 3 days to pull all my information into one and organize it into a paper. I'm heading to the library today to do my research. I will post the follow up to this post from there.

Journal 5

During my annotated bibliography research I formulated my research question or argument. In my paper I will prove that the US Special Forces are necessary. Many of the Sources I have found discuss how the Special Forces are pointless. I will prove this wrong by going into depth about the history, tactics, brief equipment, and previous missions/successes.

Journal 4

So I have decided to work with my research topic a little more. Before it had a lot of topics covering everything from the history to the equipment of our Special Forces. During a recent research trip I decided to narrow it down. My new topic will focus on the tactics, equipment, and a brief history of the Special Forces. Hopefully this works.

Micro forms

I recently made a trip to the library to research my topic. While I was there I learned about these crazy things called micro forms. The library has a massive and extensive collection of micro forms. What micro forms are, are these transparent small peices of plastic that a computer projects into a full size article. The amount of information in this collection is amazing. I would recommend this to anyone

Journal Dos

Well, it appears my lack of memory has struck again. This is my second blog that is long over due.

The topic I'm choosing for my paper is far different from the one I wrote the topic proposal paper about. I've chosen to go with a military theme, more specificaly Special Forces. I will cover the Army Rangers, Navy Seals, Green Berrets, and anymore I find in my research. I will cover the history behind them, their current use, their tactics, and explain as much as I can about them.

I haven't found any book sources yet, but I do know that Bracken Library has a very large military section. So I should be good.
